Cape Breton Island is part of Atlantic Canada, in the far north of the province of Nova Scotia. It is a place where Mi'kmaq First Nations communities share the land with Gaelic and English speaking people whose ancestors came from Scotland. There are Cape Bretoners whose ancestry connects with France, those who trace their roots to Ireland, to New England, to other parts of Canada, and to other places in the world.
So you’ve got four more vacation days for the year and the idea of spending them as a stay-cation is making you ill? Need to head somewhere warm and get away from it all? Who doesn’t relish a road trip? And what better place to explore via car than by traversing the UK? While many travelers enjoy taking the train (or flying, if you’re heading up north to Scotland), road tripping the UK is a bucket list experience – one that you’ll utterly adore (and, perhaps, do again and again).
But don’t settle for a regular road trip – craft your own itinerary to align with your passions and priorities. Here are some suggestions:
Most students who studied abroad over the summer or year have returned home and are starting to adjust back to life at home. While most believe you can easily pick up where you left off, it really isn’t that simple. This phase in the study abroad journey is called re-entry. You will be excited to be home and to see your family and friends, but a part of you will miss the new life you created in a city halfway across the world.

Most people look like they don’t have confidence...in their cover letters. They use only resume letters, and leave the rest unsent. They don’t think if the hiring managers ever read them. Take your time to write your cover letter well, especially if they are for education jobs. You never know the effects that the cover letter can have on HR. You may find yourself landing a good job.
On September 15, Glenwood Springs will be celebrating the 125th anniversary of one of its landmarks, the Hotel Colorado. The town will come together by sponsoring a morning parade, a food court and beer garden, kid friendly activities, and historical tours. The local Ute tribe will be offering a morning blessing and an afternoon presentation. It will be a gala event for a hotel that opened its doors in 1893.

I feel so lucky to live in Kalamazoo. This town is rife with creativity! Such is the case with our featured artist this month, Bridget Fox. She's just lovely in person, and her art? Well, it brings such joy. I especially love her paintings of water - they call to me, and soothe the soul.
